How Worcester County Jail's Visiting Schedule Works (And Why You Should Arrive Early)
Worcester County Jail runs on a posted schedule with set time blocks. Most of the stress comes from showing up at the wrong place—or too close to the start time. Here's how to read the schedule and what to do when you arrive so you don't lose your visit.
The visiting schedule is laid out like a grid. Visits aren't "all day" - they're assigned to specific housing units in specific time blocks. Match your loved one's housing/unit label to the correct day and time. For the Main Jail, MODS, Mini-5, and Deignan, you'll see multiple blocks throughout the day and evening: 1:00–2:00, 2:15–3:15, 3:30–4:30, 4:45–5:45, 6:00–7:00, 7:15–8:15, and 8:30–9:30. Once you've found the right block, plan your trip around that start time. Check-in takes longer than you'd expect.
Where you report depends on the type of visit. Annex visits are handled in-house. For all other visits, report to the Control 1 booth in the Main Jail. Check the schedule before you leave and build in extra time - getting to the right place is part of what "arrive early" really means.
Special note: Worcester County Jail tells visitors to arrive 15–30 minutes early for scheduled visits.
- Sign in and complete the Request to Visit Inmate Form - this is required when you arrive.
- Disclose what you’re carrying and go through screening - you must tell staff about any articles you have with you (other than clothing), including personal effects or medication, and you’ll need to successfully pass through the metal detectors.
- Show a current photo ID - bring a current photo I.D. (like a driver’s license or passport). If you can’t produce a valid, acceptable I.D., your visit may be denied.
Plan ahead for your personal items. The facility provides lockers for visitors, and coin-operated lockers are available in the Visitors' Lobby. Keep the headcount rules in mind when coordinating rides and childcare. A maximum of two adults can visit an inmate at the same time. Children can come, but you need to bring only as many as you can adequately supervise.
If you're denied entrance, you have to leave the property - loitering isn't allowed in the Visitor's Lobby, parking lots, or anywhere on state property. Frustrating when you've made the trip, but that's exactly why it's worth arriving early with the right ID and minimal personal items. Parking rules are enforced too. You must park in the facility parking lot and lock your vehicle. Park anywhere else and you can be towed at your expense. Correctional staff can also request to search your vehicle, and you're required to permit it.
- ✓ Arrive 15–30 minutes early so you have time to check in and still make your scheduled block.
- ✓ Follow the rules once you’re inside - staff can end a visit at any time for rule violations or disruptive behavior.
- ✓ Be ready for overcrowding: if visits have to be terminated early due to overcrowding, the earliest arrivals are asked to leave first.
