What to Bring (and Leave Behind) for Your First Visit to Worcester County Jail

Your first visit goes a lot smoother when you show up with the right ID and as little extra stuff as possible. Worcester County Jail only allows a very short list of items into the visiting area, so plan to lock up or leave behind everything else.

When you arrive at Worcester County Jail, you'll sign in and fill out a "Request to Visit Inmate Form." Build in extra time for this step. It happens before you ever reach the visiting area. You'll also need a current photo ID, like a driver's license or passport. Staff check that it's valid and up to date. If you can't produce one, your visit may be denied.

ID 2

  • Medic alert charm(s)
  • Wedding band and/or engagement ring
  • Locker key

Before heading in, secure your personal belongings. The facility has coin-operated lockers in the visitors' lobby for exactly this purpose. One thing to know: the Worcester County Sheriff's Office is not responsible for lost or stolen items. If something would be hard to replace (or would ruin your day if it went missing), leave it at home or locked in your car. Only bring what you truly need for the visit.

  1. Disclose what you are carrying - Upon arrival, tell staff about any articles other than clothing, including personal effects or medication.
  2. Clear the metal detector - You must pass through and successfully clear the facility metal detectors before you can enter.

ID 5

  • Park in the facility parking lot only (do not park elsewhere).
  • Keep your vehicle locked at all times.
  • Know that correctional staff may request to search your vehicle at any time, and visitors must permit it.
  • If you park where you are not allowed, you may be towed at your expense.
