How to Put Money on an Inmate's Account at Wynne Unit
Putting money on someone's trust fund account is one of the most practical ways to support them while they're at the Wynne Unit. Just make sure you're an approved sender before you try—otherwise, your deposit won't go through.
Since September 1, 2020, only people on an inmate's approved visitor list or Inmate Telephone List can deposit money. Not on one of those lists? Your deposit may be rejected - even if you have the correct name and ID number. This rule exists to reduce fraud and protect inmates from pressure to accept money from unauthorized sources.
You can add funds by mail using a Money Order or Cashier's Check. These are the only paper payment types accepted for trust fund deposits - personal checks won't work.
Monthly Checking Account Debit (ACH) is another option. This sets up a recurring debit from your checking account, but you'll need to complete the ACH authorization forms first. Without the paperwork, the deposit won't process.

Warning: Cash and personal checks aren’t accepted for deposits and will be returned to the sender.
Larger deposits come with a waiting period. Any single deposit of $500.00 or more is held for 14 days before the inmate can use it. The same 14-day hold applies to insurance checks, company checks, payroll checks, and estate disbursements. If you need the money available by a specific date, factor in that hold time.
Keep deposits personal and straightforward. Don't send money to inmates you don't know, and never send funds "as a favor" for someone else - even if the request seems innocent. These situations often turn into scams or pressure tactics, and you don't want your name attached to something you didn't intend.
- Treat any demand for money as a red flag - if you believe someone is trying to force, threaten, or pressure you into sending funds, treat it as extortion.
- Report it to the Unit Warden - share what happened and any details you have.
- Also report it to the Office of the Inspector General - you can report extortion to the OIG as well; you don’t have to choose only one place to report.
