How to Send Mail to Someone at Wynne Unit After the TDCJ Digital Mail Rollout
Sending personal mail to someone at Wynne Unit? The biggest change is where you send it. Since September 6, 2023, personal letters go to TDCJ's Digital Processing Center, where they're scanned and uploaded to the inmate's tablet.
As of September 6, 2023, Wynne Unit uses TDCJ's digital mail platform. Personal mail no longer goes directly to the unit - it's routed to a processing center, scanned, and uploaded to the inmate's tablet. Here's the exact address format to use. Make sure you include the inmate's full first and last name plus their TDCJ number on the envelope: Texas Department of Criminal Justice Inmate's Full First and Last Name + TDCJ Number PO Box 660400 Dallas, TX 75266-0400
- ✓ Texas Department of Criminal Justice
- ✓ Inmate’s Full First and Last Name + TDCJ Number
- ✓ PO Box 660400
- ✓ Dallas, TX 75266-0400
Exceptions
- ✓ Legal mail - send directly to the Wynne Unit
- ✓ Media mail - send directly to the Wynne Unit
- ✓ Books, magazines, packages, and other subscriptions from verified sellers or publishers - send directly to the Wynne Unit
Some mail skips the Digital Processing Center entirely. Legal mail must go directly to the Wynne Unit. The same goes for media mail, books, magazines, packages, and subscriptions from verified sellers or publishers - send those straight to the unit, not the Dallas PO Box.
No tablet? Your mail still gets through. Inmates without tablets receive black-and-white printed copies of their correspondence.

Preparation Tips
- ✓ Write the inmate’s full first and last name plus their TDCJ number clearly on the envelope.
- ✓ Send personal mail to the TDCJ Digital Processing Center address (the Dallas PO Box), not directly to the unit.
- ✓ Remember your mail will be scanned and uploaded to the inmate’s tablet as part of the digital mail process.
Note: Personal mail for Wynne Unit inmates goes to a processing center for scanning before digital delivery. Exceptions like legal mail or items from publishers and verified sellers should go directly to the Wynne Unit.
