Finding Someone at Wyoming CF: How to Look Up an Inmate's DIN and Confirm Their Location

Before visiting someone at Wyoming Correctional Facility, you'll need to find their DIN (Department Identification Number) and confirm they're actually housed there. The DIN is how DOCCS tracks everyone in custody - and at Wyoming CF, it also determines which weekends they can have visitors.

Every person in NY DOCCS custody has a DIN that follows them throughout their incarceration. At Wyoming CF, this number does more than identify someone - it controls when they can receive visits. Weekend visiting is split by the last digit of the DIN on alternating odd/even weekends. Get the DIN first, or you might show up on the wrong day.

Note: Wyoming CF uses an odd/even weekend schedule based on the last digit of the DIN, but if a holiday falls on a weekend, visits are open to everyone with no DIN-based restrictions.

Finding Someone at Wyoming CF: How to Look Up an Inmate's DIN and Confirm Their Location

The quickest way to find someone and get their DIN is the DOCCS Incarcerated Individual Lookup. Search using their full name and date of birth. The results will show their DIN and current facility assignment - so you can verify they're at Wyoming CF before making plans.

  1. Open the DOCCS Incarcerated Individual Lookup - this is where DOCCS lists an individual’s current facility assignment.
  2. Enter their complete name and birth date - you’ll need both for a successful search.
  3. Write down the DIN - you’ll use it to follow Wyoming CF’s odd/even visiting schedule.
  4. Confirm the facility shown in the results - the lookup displays where the person is currently assigned, so you can verify it says Wyoming Correctional Facility before you travel.

Tip: Check the lookup close to the day you plan to go. You want the current facility assignment, and you’ll also need the DIN to know which weekend they’re eligible for visits at Wyoming CF.

Can't find them online? Call the DOCCS Central Office at (518) 457-5000 during business hours. Staff can help you locate someone in custody.

Wyoming CF holds visits on weekends only. Hours run from 8:15 AM to 3:15 PM, with 2:15 PM as the latest arrival time. Get there early enough to clear check-in before that cutoff.

  • Arrive by 2:15 PM at the latest (even though visiting hours run until 3:15 PM)
  • Expect a maximum of one visit per incarcerated individual per day
  • Plan your group size: up to three visitors per visit, plus one child under five (the child must sit on an adult’s lap)

If the person you want to visit is in the Special Housing Unit (SHU), the rules are stricter. SHU inmates can receive one non-legal visit every seven days, and it must happen during regular visiting hours.

Before you leave, double-check the DOCCS lookup to confirm they're still at Wyoming CF. Then use their DIN to figure out which weekend matches the odd/even schedule. A quick check now saves a wasted trip later.

Closing

  • Have the person’s DIN (you’ll need it for Wyoming CF’s DIN-based weekend schedule)
  • Have their complete name and birth date handy (to search the DOCCS lookup if you need to)
  • Plan around the latest arrival time: 2:15 PM
  • Keep your visit within the limit: up to three visitors plus one child under five (on an adult’s lap)
