What to expect at Wyoming CF's Visitor Hospitality Center and lighted-number processing (arrive early to move faster)
Visiting at Wyoming Correctional Facility is weekends only, with hours running from 8:15 AM to 3:15 PM. If this is your first trip, plan around those hours. Most of your wait time comes from check-in and processing, not the visit itself.
You can bring up to three adult visitors per visit, plus one child under age five. Children under five must sit on an adult's lap. Wyoming CF also limits each incarcerated individual to one visit per day, so coordinate with other family members ahead of time. Nobody wants to show up only to find out someone else already visited that day.
Before you enter the facility, you'll check in at the Visitor Hospitality Center. It's a sheltered waiting area where families and friends can sit and take a short breather while waiting to be processed.
- ✓ Restrooms
- ✓ A baby changing station
- ✓ Lockers for storing personal belongings
- ✓ Information about visitation rules and regulations (including packages for incarcerated individuals)
Wyoming CF uses a lighted-number display in the Visitor Hospitality Center window to call visitors for processing. Keep an eye on that display while you wait. When your number appears, it's your turn.
Processing goes in order of arrival. The earlier you get there, the sooner your number comes up, and the faster you move from waiting into the actual visit.
Visits are also scheduled in segments on alternating weekends based on the last digit of the incarcerated person's DIN (Department Identification Number). To figure out which weekend applies, start with that last digit. It determines when visits are available for the person you're coming to see.
Don't plan to arrive late in the day. The latest arrival time at Wyoming CF is 2:15 PM, even though visiting hours run until 3:15 PM.
- Get there well before 2:15 PM. 2:15 PM is the latest arrival time, and arriving earlier puts you ahead in the order-of-arrival line.
- Start at the Visitor Hospitality Center. That is where you wait and where the facility signals who is next.
- Watch the lighted-number display. The lighted number system shows when you are next to be processed, so you can be ready when your turn comes up.
- Use the Hospitality Center amenities before your number is up. If you need the restroom, a baby changing station, or to put personal belongings into a locker, do it while you are waiting so you are not scrambling when the lighted number indicates you are next.
