How to Address Mail to a WDOC Inmate: Format & Example

Your envelope needs three things: the inmate's full name, their inmate number, and the address of the facility where they're housed. All three should appear together on the envelope. Miss any one of them, and mailroom staff may not be able to route your letter.

The WDOC offender locator can help you confirm where someone is housed, but it only covers people currently in a Wyoming state prison or on probation/parole. County jail inmates won't appear, since those facilities aren't under WDOC authority. To search, enter the inmate number or at least the first two letters of the person's last name. Once you find the right record, use it to confirm the inmate number and facility address before writing your envelope.
