How to Visit Someone at Yadkin County Detention Center (Thursday visits)
Visiting someone at Yadkin County Detention Center is straightforward once you know the Thursday hours and the rules that can stop a visit at the door. Here's how to plan your trip and avoid getting turned away.
Thursday is visitation day at Yadkin County Detention Center, with two windows: 1:30 pm–4:30 pm and 7:00 pm–9:00 pm. Each inmate gets one visit per week, so if multiple people want to see the same person, coordinate who takes that week's slot.
Note: The county's Detention Center page has posted
- Call before you leave - Contact the Detention Center at 336-849-7840 to confirm visitation is happening that day and that you’re planning to come during the Thursday windows.
- Ask directly about any current “no visitation” notice - If visitation is temporarily suspended “until further notice,” you’ll want to know before you make the trip.
You can't just show up - visitors must be on an approved list maintained by the jail's administration. If your name isn't on that list, staff will turn you away even with valid ID and perfect timing.
Important: If you have pending criminal charges, you will not be allowed into Yadkin County Detention Center for visitation.
ID and Children
- ✓ Photo ID (required for all visitors before you’ll be admitted)
- ✓ If a visitor is under 16, they must come with a parent or guardian
At check-in, staff verify two things: your photo ID and whether your name appears on the approved visitor list. If either doesn't check out, your visit ends before it starts. Double-check both ahead of time.
Warning: Tobacco, cellular phones, and weapons are considered contraband. Bringing them into the facility - or trying to pass them to someone - can result in a criminal charge.
Don’t bring mail expecting to hand it over during your visit. The Detention Center does not accept mail at visitation.
Since each inmate gets one visit per week, decide in advance who's going - especially if several family members want to see the same person. Pick the Thursday window that works (1:30–4:30 pm or 7:00–9:00 pm) and confirm that person is on the approved visitor list.
