Which Days Can You Visit? Yakima County Jail's Housing Unit Schedule Explained

Public visiting at Yakima County Jail is limited, so plan ahead. Each inmate gets two 30-minute public visits per week. Miss your unit's eligible days, and you could be waiting until the next window opens.

The jail publishes a housing-unit-to-day schedule so you can figure out which days apply based on where someone is housed. I've used that same unit/day mapping (the one shown alongside inmate look-up information) below, so you can quickly match the unit name to the correct visiting days.

Unit Examples

  • 2nd Floor North Units G–M - Monday and Thursday
  • 2nd Floor South Units A–F - Tuesday and Friday
  • Annex Units A–F - Monday through Friday
  • YCCC Pods A–C - Monday through Friday

If something doesn't line up - your loved one says they moved, the unit name doesn't match the list, or you're unsure which days apply - call the visit scheduling line at 509-574-2929 to confirm. Public visits must be scheduled at least two business days in advance by phone, so waiting until the last minute can cost you the visit.

Note: The scheduling line is open 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and closed on holidays and weekends. If you're planning around a holiday or weekend visit, call earlier in the week to confirm availability.

  1. Call the scheduling line - Use 509-574-2929 during posted hours so you can talk through the current options.
  2. Ask whether the inmate’s unit changed - Confirm the current housing unit name and which visiting days apply to that unit.
  3. Reconfirm your appointment details - Before you hang up, repeat back the scheduled day so you’re not planning around an outdated unit assignment.

Can't find the unit name? Start with the jail's inmate look-up information - that's also where the county posts the unit-to-day visiting schedule. If the unit still isn't clear or doesn't match the published mapping, calling is usually the fastest way to get the correct unit name and visiting days.
