Before Your First Visit to York CI: Arrival Time, ID, Dress Code, and Check-In Checklist
Your first visit to York CI goes smoother when you show up early, bring the right ID, and follow the dress code. This checklist helps you avoid being turned away—or losing precious time with your loved one.
Arrive at least 15 minutes before your scheduled visit. York CI runs on a tight schedule - show up late and your visit may be cut short or canceled entirely. Build in extra time for parking, lines, and the check-in process.
Bring a valid, government-issued photo ID. Staff will check it before you enter, and there's no getting in without one. If you have paperwork confirming your approved visitor status, bring that too - it can speed things up if questions come up at the desk.
York CI expects visitors to dress "reasonably modest." That means nothing revealing, overly suggestive, or potentially offensive - any of those can get you turned away at the door. When in doubt, go more conservative. It's the easiest way to protect your visit.
Health reminder: If you have symptoms consistent with COVID-19 or the flu - or you’ve been in close contact with someone who does - you should not visit. Contact your primary care physician for guidance.
Only two visitors are allowed per in-person visit at York CI, and that includes children. If you're coming with family, figure out who's going in beforehand - you don't want to make that call at check-in.
Final Checklist
- ✓ Arrive at least 15 minutes early so you can check in; late arrival can shorten or cancel the visit.
- ✓ Bring a valid government-issued photo ID for check-in.
- ✓ Dress reasonably modest; revealing, seductive, or offensive clothing can lead to denied entry.
- ✓ Don’t visit if you (or a close contact) have symptoms consistent with COVID-19 or influenza; contact your primary care physician.
- ✓ Plan for the two-visitor maximum per visit (children count toward the two).
Set an "arrive" alarm for 30–45 minutes before your visit starts - not just a "leave the house" reminder. Keep your ID somewhere obvious: wallet, with your keys, or in a small pouch you always grab. And if you're second-guessing an outfit, pick the more modest one. Getting turned away over clothing is a frustrating way to lose a visit.
