Before You Mail a Card or Photo: What Pasco County's Scanner Will Reject

If Pasco Corrections can't scan it, it won't get through. Non-paper items are automatically rejected. Keep everything flat, clean, and paper-only.

  • Legal/privileged mail (handled differently than regular scanned mail)
  • Newspaper and magazine clippings
  • Post-it notes
  • Anything attached to paper with tape or other adhesives
  • Documents that include staples, paperclips, binding agents, or adhesives
  • Greeting cards with die-cuts or pop-out designs
  • Anything with glitter or sparkles

Quick rule: If your card or photo has attachments, raised decorations, or anything that isn’t plain paper, assume it’ll be rejected by the scanner.

Pasco's scanned mail has strict size limits. Your paper or photo must be between 4 inches x 6 inches and 8.5 inches x 14 inches. Anything outside that range won't scan properly and risks rejection.

  • 4" x 6"
  • 5" x 7"
  • 8" x 10"
Before You Mail a Card or Photo: What Pasco County's Scanner Will Reject
  1. Keep it paper-only - non-paper items aren’t accepted for scanning, so don’t include anything that isn’t plain paper or a standard photo.
  2. Stay within the size range - make sure what you’re sending is at least 4" x 6" and no larger than 8.5" x 14".
  3. Remove anything attached or bound - take off tape, adhesive add-ons, staples, paperclips, and anything that makes pages stick together.
  4. Choose flat cards and clean pages - skip pop-out/die-cut greeting cards and anything with glitter or sparkles, since those aren’t eligible to be scanned.
  • Tape or anything glued on with adhesives
  • Post-it notes
  • Newspaper or magazine clippings
  • Staples, paperclips, or bindings
  • Glitter, sparkles, or “decorated” paper/cardstock
  • Pop-out or die-cut greeting cards

Keep your originals: Physical mail that gets uploaded into the system will be destroyed 60 days after upload.

Some mail shouldn't go through the scanning process at all. Legal mail and government-issued checks need to be mailed directly to the facility's street address - include the inmate's name and ID number on the envelope. Legal mail isn't eligible for scanning, so send it the right way from the start to avoid delays.

  • Address it directly to: Pasco Corrections, 20101 Central Blvd, Land O' Lakes, FL 34637
  • Clearly write the inmate’s name and ID#
  • Use this direct-to-facility method for privileged/legal mail and for government-issued checks (not the scanned mail stream)
