Visitation: how to apply, submit forms, and wait for approval
In Florida Department of Corrections facilities, you generally apply first and wait for approval before traveling to the institution. Florida's visitation application form says anyone 12 years old and older wanting to visit must complete the form. Submit the completed form by email or U.S. Mail to the institution where you are requesting to visit.
Warning: Florida’s visitor instructions say: do not visit until the inmate notifies you your visitation application is approved (this instruction also appears in Spanish-language visitor guidance).
- Complete the visitation request form. If you are 12 or older and you want to visit, the form says you must complete it.
- Submit it to the right institution. The instructions say to submit the completed form by email or U.S. Mail to the institution where you are requesting to visit.
- Use the institution’s designated visitation mailbox when provided. For example, the mailbox list shows Suwannee Correctional Institution’s visitation application email as VisitappSuwanneeCI@fdc.myflorida.com.
- Wait for confirmation from your loved one. The instructions say not to visit until the inmate notifies you of approval.
