How inmate mail and photos are processed in Iowa (Pigeonly central processing)
For Iowa DOC prisons, all incoming non-legal mail is routed through a central mail processor (Pigeonly) to help prevent contraband. Send non-legal letters and photos to: Incarcerated Individual Name, Offender ID Number; Facility Name, Facility ID Number; PO Box 96777, Las Vegas, NV 89193. Mail sent directly to an IDOC facility will be returned to the sender.
Pigeonly opens and scans non-legal mail into a digital color copy, then prints and delivers that copy to the appropriate Iowa DOC facility. Originals are not returned. They're temporarily stored and then securely destroyed under Iowa DOC policy. Include the correct facility mailing code (facility ID number) on the address. Anamosa State Penitentiary uses 1106; Clarinda Correctional Facility uses 1107.
Common Questions

Will originals of mailed photos or letters be returned to me?
No. Pigeonly scans non-legal mail into a digital color copy for delivery to the facility, and the originals are not returned. Iowa DOC policy says originals are temporarily stored and then securely destroyed.
