Phone calls, eMessaging, and video visits: setup and options

Phone setup depends on the facility. At Cheshire County, you need to set up an account with Securus Technologies to receive calls. Securus representatives are available 24/7. If your loved one is in federal custody, the Bureau of Prisons does not permit third-party or alternative call arrangements. Ordinarily the incarcerated person pays for calls, though in some cases the receiving party pays.

For video visits, one common platform is Securus Video Connect. This web-based system lets you schedule and join video sessions from anywhere with internet access using the free Securus app, a computer, or a tablet. Depending on facility availability, you may be able to pre-schedule onsite visits or schedule from anywhere. Rockingham County implemented video visitation on October 27, 2015, but as of March 2020, only remote video visitation is available (no on-site video visits).

Tip: Rockingham County launched eMessaging on July 23, 2018. Inmates can receive messages and photos and send a text reply when you purchase stamps through Securus (including the Securus Mobile app). Securus notes it is not responsible for the quality of your internet connection or your hardware setup.
