Mail, photos, and packages: addressing, allowed items, and vendor routing
- Write the name and inmate number. Use the inmate’s full name and their inmate number.
- Use the Smart Communications format. Address it to: Smart Communications / Washoe County Detention Facility [Inmate Name] (# Inmate Number) PO Box 9163 Seminole, FL 33775-9137.
- Mail it to the PO Box. Washoe County states that, effective 04/25/2022, inmate postal mail must be sent to that Smart Communications address, and mail received at the facility after May 8, 2022 will be returned to sender.
For NDOC facilities, books and calendars can be mailed to offenders with some limitations. See Administrative Regulations AR 711 and AR 750 for details. If NDOC offers an item through Canteen or the AccessSecurePak program, outside items cannot be mailed in. For clothing or food packages, NDOC directs families to order through the SecurePak package program.
