How to place and fund phone or messaging accounts for incarcerated people in Nevada
For people in Nevada Department of Corrections (NDOC) custody, the state contracts with ViaPath Technologies for phone calls and account billing. You can fund calling through a web-based portal, an automated phone system (IVR), or by speaking with customer support. Outside parties can also create and fund a prepaid AdvancePay account through ViaPath/ConnectNetwork. NDOC lists support numbers for common needs, including AdvancePay deposits, Customer Support, and GettingOut.com support. Depending on how calls are set up, charges may be billed to your local telephone bill (if your phone company permits it). That type of account may have a 90-day rolling spending limit and a monthly fee set by your telephone service provider.
Some local detention centers use different phone systems. Henderson Detention Center, for example, directs families to set up a prepaid account through Securus. Inmates there may also be able to purchase calling cards through their commissary account. If you're trying to reach someone housed there as an ICE detainee, note that detainees cannot receive incoming calls. You'll need to rely on the outgoing phone system instead.
Common Questions
Q
Can an inmate receive incoming phone calls?
At Henderson Detention Center, ICE states that detainees cannot receive incoming calls. For NDOC facilities, NDOC’s phone information focuses on setting up prepaid calling accounts through ViaPath/ConnectNetwork so your loved one can place outgoing calls. If you are unsure what system applies, start with the facility’s phone provider instructions and set up the prepaid option listed for that facility.
