How to send money to someone who is incarcerated in Nevada

NDOC lists two standard ways to send money: a Lockbox Deposit Coupon using a cashier's check or money order, or Access Corrections deposits by credit or debit card (MasterCard or Visa), including deposits made by calling Access Corrections. Deposit coupons must be printed from the NDOC site or obtained from the offender. The offender is responsible for sending coupons to people who want to send money. If you send a money order or cashier's check directly to NDOC, funds will be available to the offender fourteen calendar days after receipt due to counterfeit activity. NDOC also warns that people who are not previously acquainted with offenders should be wary of sending money based on requests for release, restitution, or other claimed expenses. The Department of Corrections does not require payment of any fees for any type of release.

County facilities may use different deposit systems. Washoe County lists multiple options: kiosks (in the Sheriff's Office foyer and visiting lobby), internet credit card payments through a JailATM web deposits page, and mail-in money orders or cashier's checks addressed to Washoe County Jail, ATTN: Inmate Accounting (include the inmate's name). You can also add money directly to an inmate's Smart Communications account for phone calls, emails, visits, and entertainment. At Henderson Detention Center, the city describes commissary goods being purchased for inmates or funds being deposited into an inmate's account for commissary purchases.
