Attorney visits and depositions: how to arrange them
- Obtain the order or written stipulation. RIDOC instructs attorneys to file a motion for leave pursuant to Rule 30(a)(2) to depose someone housed at the ACI, then obtain the court order (or a written stipulation).
- Send the paperwork to the Office of Legal Counsel. RIDOC states you may fax the order to 401-462-2583 or email it to diane.gill@doc.ri.gov.
- Follow up by phone. RIDOC instructs attorneys to call the Legal Assistant at 401-462-5168 to follow up.
- Coordinate with the Deputy Warden. RIDOC states it is the attorney’s responsibility to contact the Deputy Warden to set the deposition date and time, and to provide the full names and dates of birth of any non-attorneys attending (for example, a stenographer) so a background check can be completed before the deposition date.
- Bring required credentials. RIDOC states attorneys need to bring their Bar cards on the day of the deposition.

How long are inmate phone calls?

Q
Where and when can I make an in-person deposit?
RIDOC lists the Inmate Accounts office at 51 West Road, Cranston, RI 02920 (John O. Pastore Government Center, adjacent to the John Moran Facility). Window hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM (closed state holidays).
