For SCDC prison questions about visitation and the application process, SCDC has a Visitation office email (visitation@doc.sc.gov) and an inquiry line at 803-896-1838 with menu options, including one about the application process. If you're dealing with a county detention center, the fastest path is usually the facility's official contact listing. Sumter County Detention Center, for example, publishes its address (1250 Winkles Rd, Sumter, SC 29153), phone number (803-436-2340), and office hours (Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.).

Some facilities list separate physical and mailing addresses, plus a main phone line. Kershaw County Detention Center lists both its physical and mailing address at 101 Bramblewood Plantation Road, Camden, SC 29020, along with a phone number (803-425-1516). Some jails also publish a dedicated line for visit questions. Laurens County's Visitation office, for instance, can be reached at 864-683-4785.
