Scheduling visits in Texas and what to expect on arrival or online

  1. Create your own account. Visitors must create their own online visitation scheduler accounts, TDCJ staff cannot create visitor accounts.
  2. Use an email you can keep long-term. Once an account is created for an email address, it cannot be deleted, and the email address cannot be changed.
  3. Complete the email validation. After you submit your email, the system sends a 7-digit validation code and link to finish registration.
  4. Confirm your loved one’s current housing before scheduling. Transfers happen, and the unit where they are housed affects where you go and what options are available.

In Texas, visitation is a privilege. It can be restricted temporarily because of rule violations, security concerns, lockdowns, serious incidents, or a health or safety emergency. Most visits can also be electronically monitored (attorney-client visits are the main exception). For contact visits, TDCJ allows a brief embrace and kiss once at the beginning and once at the end of the visit. If traveling isn't possible, TDCJ also offers remote video visitation through Securus. These visits are 60 minutes and cost $10.
