Preparing for in-person visits and scheduling in West Virginia

  1. Get on the approved visiting list. BOP states you must be placed on the inmate’s approved visiting list before you can visit.
  2. Wait for clearance. BOP also states you can only visit if the inmate has placed you on their visiting list and you have been cleared.
  3. Complete the visitor form if requested. The BP-A0629 visitor form instructs prospective visitors to fill out the questionnaire and release form and return it to the institution address listed on the form.
  4. Ask about first-arrival exceptions. BOP notes that when someone first enters or transfers and a visiting list might not exist yet, verified immediate family members may be allowed to visit in certain circumstances.

At North Central Regional Jail and Correctional Facility, visiting hours are Tuesday 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., and Sunday 12:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Visits are non-contact, 30 minutes long, and must be scheduled in advance. Each inmate is permitted one visit per month. Visitor limits per visit: one adult plus two minor children, or two adults.

  • Bring a valid, government-issued photo ID
  • Double-check the facility’s current hours and any scheduling requirements before you leave
  • Plan for security screening and a little extra time at check-in
  • Keep your group size within the facility’s posted visitor limits
