How to apply for visiting approval at Farmington Correctional Center (online step-by-step)

Visitor approval at Farmington Correctional Center goes through Missouri DOC's online visiting application - called the Friends and Family form. This is how Missouri DOC decides whether to approve you for visits. Apply online before you try to schedule anything or show up at the facility.

You'll need the incarcerated person's Missouri DOC ID number to complete the form. The application won't submit without it. Ask your loved one for this number ahead of time and have it ready when you start.

Note: You must be pre-approved to visit, and Missouri DOC runs a criminal history check as part of the process. Fill the application out thoroughly and honestly - dishonesty can lead to a denial of visiting privileges.

Watch for fields marked with an asterisk (*) as you go - these are required. Missing even one can prevent you from completing the form. If you're filling this out on your phone, scroll back through before submitting to double-check that every required field is filled in.

Toward the end, you'll agree to comply with visiting regulations, including consenting to searches. Read through what you're agreeing to - submitting the form means you accept those visiting-room rules.

Reminder: Missouri DOC conducts a criminal history check on visitors. If you leave things out or provide false information, your application can be denied.

  1. Go to the Identification Number section - this is where the form asks for an ID type and number.
  2. Select “other” as the ID type - this is the option Missouri DOC directs you to use for a minor child.
  3. Enter “NA” for the identification number - use “NA” in the number field when the visitor is a minor child.

Heads up: Don’t use the online application if you’re applying for clergy status, or if a minor is applying to visit an offender who is restricted to “Adult Only.”

Once a decision is made, the offender is notified of approval or denial. Your loved one is responsible for letting you know your visiting status, so watch for a message, call, or letter from them before you make plans to visit.

If you think one of the special situations applies to you - like clergy status or a minor visitor situation - or you’re just not sure how to answer something on the form, contact the institution’s case manager for guidance before you submit.

  • If your visiting application is denied, you can send an appeal letter within 30 days to the Missouri Department of Corrections, Attn: Deputy Division Director of Adult Institutions.
  • If you’re denied, you may reapply for visiting status after one year.
