Why You Can't Call an Inmate at Adams County Jail (and what you can do instead)
Trying to call the jail and get someone on the phone? Here's the rule that stops most people — and what actually works instead.
Adams County Jail doesn't allow incoming calls to inmates. Period. The jail also won't relay messages - even urgent ones. Calling the front desk to "pass along" information won't work.
Phone contact works in reverse: the inmate calls you. They use the jail's phone system (CTEL/CPC), sometimes called telephone/"Chirping" services. You won't be dialing into the housing unit - you'll be waiting for their call to come through.
- ✓ Use the kiosk in the jail lobby to deposit money onto an inmate’s phone account.
- ✓ Pay at the kiosk with cash or a major credit card.
A common mistake? Putting money in the wrong account. Adams County Jail uses CTEL/CPC for telephone/Chirping services and InmateSales for commissary - and those balances don't overlap. If you want the money available for calls, you need to add it specifically to the phone account.
Warning: 3-way calling and “piggybacking” an inmate call to another number is strictly prohibited. If it happens, the number you’re calling from may be permanently blocked from receiving calls from the facility.
If calls aren't coming through - or you want a more reliable way to stay connected - video visitation is the main alternative at Adams County Jail. Visits can be scheduled daily from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., though scheduling is blocked during mealtimes (11:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m.–5:00 p.m.). On-site visits happen in the public lobby and are free. Remote visits from your computer or phone have a minimal fee. Either way, book at least 24 hours ahead using a video terminal in the public visitation area, the InmateSales website, or by calling 1-877-998-5678.
