Visitation at Alexander Correctional Institution is by appointment only. Call or email the prison to schedule and confirm your visit. Before visiting, you must be on the approved visitor list—the offender mails you a blank visitor application, and facility staff must approve your completed form before any in-person visit. Each offender can have up to 18 approved visitors. Certain officials (legal, law enforcement, consular) must register in advance but don't count toward that limit. Visitor list changes happen during an open enrollment period every six months, based on the offender's admission date. Visits may be contact or non-contact depending on the offender's status, and video visits are available through a third-party app. Leave electronics at home. Cell phones, smartwatches, cameras, recording devices, and smart/AI glasses are all prohibited. Expect to be searched.

Alexander Correctional Institution uses tablet services provided under an NCDAC contract with ViaPath/GTL. These tablets give incarcerated people communication tools plus educational, self-help, and entertainment content. Through the tablets, they can place phone calls, send and receive text messages, and receive digitized mail. To fund calling and other paid features, set up a PIN-debit account through ConnectNetwork—the website is available 24/7 for account setup and deposits. Service fees include $3.00 per automated payment, $5.94 per live-operator payment, and $2.00 for a paper bill or statement. Since third-party vendors run these services, you'll handle account setup and funding through their portals or apps, not through the facility directly.

Non-legal letters and similar mail for people at Alexander Correctional Institution go through TextBehind. Your mail is scanned offsite and delivered electronically to the person's tablet. Address non-legal mail to TextBehind at P.O. Box 247, Phoenix, MD 21131, and include the offender's full name and OPUS number—otherwise it will be returned. TextBehind doesn't process packages. Send those directly to the prison's street address or through an approved vendor. Religious correspondence-course materials and sacred texts can't go through TextBehind either. Alexander Correctional Institution uses ViaPath/TouchPay for offender trust account deposits. You can pay online, through the mobile app, by phone, via Western Union cash deposits, or by mailed money order. One important rule: only people listed as approved visitors for that offender can deposit money. Confirm you're on the approved-visitor list before sending funds.
