Algoa Correctional Center Visiting Hours & How Weekend Sessions Work

Algoa Correctional Center offers visiting on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Each day has two sessions: morning runs from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., and afternoon from 2:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. If you're traveling any distance, plan around those windows so you're not stuck waiting or missing the start.

Once you reach the grounds, visiting runs on a structured system. You can arrive in the parking lot no earlier than 30 minutes before your session starts. Showing up hours early won't help and can create problems. Visitors enter on a first-come, first-served basis, so being ready to check in right when your session begins matters.

Under Missouri DOC guidelines, visits are normally limited to three visitors per incarcerated person. That's the baseline to plan around when deciding who's coming with you.

There's an exception for families with young children: visits may include up to three additional visitors age 5 and under. In practice, institutions can impose different limits, including how they apply age cutoffs. Treat this as a possible allowance, not a guarantee. If you're planning to bring children on top of three adults, verify Algoa's current rules before making the trip.

If the person you're visiting is on reception and orientation status (still awaiting assignment to a permanent institution or treatment center), visiting is more limited. During that period, they may receive only one visit per month. Coordinate carefully before planning a weekend trip.
