What to Bring (and What to Leave Home) for Your Visit to Algoa Correctional Center

You'll need a valid photo ID to get through check-in at Algoa Correctional Center. A current driver's license or Department of Revenue ID card works. Bringing a backup form of photo ID isn't a bad idea - your visit depends on clearing that front desk.

What to Bring (and What to Leave Home) for Your Visit to Algoa Correctional Center

Infant Allowed

  • One clear carry-all (for infant supplies)
  • Up to 6 diapers
  • 1 blanket
  • Up to 3 clear plastic bottles of prepared infant beverage
  • 1 clear plastic no-spill toddler cup
  • Up to 3 unopened vendor containers of baby food
  • 1 plastic pacifier
  • Teether and/or rattle (plastic)
  • 1 small plastic spoon
  • 1 unopened package of baby wipes

Note: Infant supplies must fit in one clear carry-all. Stick to the exact quantities listed - you don't want to be deciding what to toss at the entrance.

Plan your outfit with the dress code in mind. Algoa Correctional Center prohibits tight, excessively baggy, transparent, or revealing clothing. When in doubt, go conservative: opaque fabric, a comfortable fit (not skin-tight, not oversized), and coverage that won't raise questions when you're standing, sitting, or walking through check-in.

Tip: If you’re on the fence about an outfit, bring an alternate change of clothes in your car so you can swap quickly if staff won’t clear what you’re wearing.

Got a question about what's allowed? Don't guess. Algoa Correctional Center posts visiting rules in the visiting room, and staff will hand you a copy if you ask. That's the fastest way to clear up confusion - especially for first-time visitors or anyone bringing a child.
