Four Ways to Put Money on an Inmate's Account at RSW Regional Jail

RSW Regional Jail offers four ways to add money to an inmate's canteen account: a main-lobby kiosk, online payment, mailing a money order, or dropping one off in person. The kiosk and online options are convenient but come with fees. Mail and in-person deposits only accept money orders - no cash, no personal checks.

Warning: Don’t send cash or personal checks to the jail or to the mail processing center.

If you want the fastest in-person option, use the Main Lobby Kiosk at RSW Regional Jail. It’s available 24/7, so you can make a deposit outside normal business hours. Fees apply when you use the kiosk.

You can add money online through jailatm.com. This works well if you can't get to the jail in person. Expect to pay a fee.

Four Ways to Put Money on an Inmate's Account at RSW Regional Jail

To deposit by mail at RSW Regional Jail, send a money order (money orders only - no cash and no personal checks) directly to the facility and address it to the Inmate Accounts Clerk. Use this format: ATTN: Inmate Accounts Clerk RSW Regional Jail INMATE FULL NAME, inmate ID number 6601 Winchester Road Front Royal, VA 22630

Don’t skip the identifiers: The money order needs the inmate’s full name plus either their date of birth or inmate ID. Also, do not mail money orders, cash, or personal checks to the mail processing center.

Why does the address matter? RSW Regional Jail routes most regular inmate mail through a third-party scanning center in North Carolina. Money orders and legal mail are exceptions - they go directly to the jail. If you accidentally send a money order to the processing center, it won't reach the inmate's account. For reference, the processing center address (for non-legal mail only) is: RSW Regional Jail VA, P.O. Box 18247, Greensboro, NC 27419.

Prefer to hand-deliver? You can drop off a money order with the receptionist at RSW Regional Jail Monday through Friday, 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. Money orders only - no exceptions.

Reminder: Cash and personal checks aren’t accepted for deposits.
