Phone-Only Privileges at ADCRR: How to Get Calls Without Paying the $25 Background Fee
Want to receive phone calls but skip the $25 visitation background check fee? ADCRR offers
ADCRR draws a clear line between visitation applications and phone-only requests. If you're only asking for phone privileges - not in-person visits, phone/visitation combo status, or video visits - you skip the $25 background check fee that most adult visitors pay.
Here's the catch: there's no separate "phone form." You still submit the standard ADCRR "Application to Visit an Inmate" electronically. That same application handles both visitation and phone-call approval.
No fee doesn't mean no screening. ADCRR runs criminal background checks on everyone - whether you're applying for visits or just phone calls. So while phone-only saves you $25, expect the same application review process.
Watch the 30-day window: If any applicable fees and/or required supporting documents aren’t received within 30 days of your application date, ADCRR treats the application as incomplete and won’t process it.
- Submit the “Application to Visit an Inmate” electronically - This is the required application for both visitors and people requesting phone-only privileges.
- Pay electronically if a payment applies to your situation - ADCRR requires payments to be made electronically, and you’ll want your Application Visitor ID number ready when you submit a payment.
Timing tip: Don’t submit the application while the inmate is in the intake process at Alhambra or in the intake process at Perryville.
Once you submit, be patient. ADCRR asks for 60 days to process applications after receiving any required payment and documents. I'd recommend waiting for official approval before counting on those calls - especially if you had to send anything beyond the electronic form.
