To visit someone at Red Rock, you need to submit the Application to Visit an Inmate online. This is the starting point for getting on the person's visitation list. Complete the application first, then follow up with any fees and documents that apply to your situation.

Only want to accept phone calls from an inmate? You still need to go through the regular application process. The difference is the fee: phone-call-only applicants skip the $25 background check fee.

Important: Do not submit a visitation application while the inmate is in the intake process at Alhambra or in the intake process at Perryville.

Fill out every field on the online Application to Visit an Inmate. Missing information slows things down or results in an incomplete submission. Take a moment to double-check your entries before you hit submit.

When you submit the application, you're attesting that everything is truthful and accurate. Criminal background checks are run on all applicants, so accuracy matters. Errors or inconsistencies can create avoidable delays.

Most adults pay a one-time, non-refundable $25 background check fee. This applies to in-person visits, phone privileges (when applying as a visitor, not phone-only), and video visits. The exception: phone-call-only applicants still submit an application but skip the $25 fee.

  • Pay the background check fee electronically (paper payments are not accepted for this fee).
  • Have your Application Visitor ID number ready before you submit your payment.

Here's a deadline that trips people up: any required fees and supporting documents must arrive within 30 days of your application date. Miss that window and your application is marked incomplete. It won't be processed.

Tip: Treat the 30-day window like a hard deadline. Send any required documents as soon as you can so your application does not stall out as “incomplete.”

Once your payment (if required) and documents are received, allow up to 60 days for processing. Start counting from when those items arrive, not from the day you first submitted.

After a decision is made, the inmate gets notified. They're responsible for telling you whether you were approved, so keep communication open and ask them to let you know as soon as they hear back.
