Before You Apply for Visits at ASPC‑Y Dakota: Timing, Deadlines, and Common Pitfalls

Timing matters if your loved one just entered the system or was recently transferred. ADCRR won't process visitation applications while an inmate is going through intake at Alhambra or Perryville. Before you submit anything, confirm where they're currently housed - especially if their status is still in flux.

Stop: If the inmate was recently moved or is still in intake (Alhambra or Perryville), wait to submit your visitation application until intake is complete.

Once you submit your application, a 30-day clock starts. Any background check fees and required documents must reach ADCRR within that window. Miss the deadline, and your application gets marked incomplete - it won't be processed.

  • Plan to get any applicable background check fee and required supporting documents in within 30 days of the application date (missing the deadline means the application is incomplete and won’t be processed)
  • Pay electronically (all visitation application payments must be made electronically)
  • Keep your Application Visitor ID number handy for the electronic payment step
  • Send any required supporting documents promptly so they’re received within the 30-day window

Even after your file is complete - payment received, documents submitted - approval takes time. ADCRR asks applicants to allow 60 days for processing. Plan accordingly and don't count on a visit until you have confirmation in hand.

ASPC Yuma - Dakota Unit publishes a schedule called the "ASPC YUMA 2025 VISITATION CALENDAR - DAKOTA UNIT" for planning visit dates. Need to check on your application or follow up with the unit? Reach out at yuma.dak.east.vidvis@azadc.gov.

  • Confirm the inmate is not in the intake process at Alhambra and not in the intake process at Perryville before you submit
  • Track your application date so you don’t lose the 30-day window
  • Make sure any applicable background check fees and any required supporting documents are received within 30 days (or the application will be considered incomplete and not processed)
  • Pay electronically (no other payment method is accepted)
  • Save your Application Visitor ID number so you can submit electronic payment correctly

Tip: Write down or screenshot your Application Visitor ID before you pay - electronic payment requires it, and all payments have to be made electronically.
