What to Wear (and Not Wear) When Visiting Bell County Camp: A Quick Checklist
Bell County Camp enforces a strict visitor dress code. The fastest way to lose visit time? Getting turned away for clothing. Use the checklist below to dress right and get through screening without issues.
The baseline at Bell County Camp is straightforward: dress modestly for a correctional setting. Wear appropriate undergarments, and make sure they stay hidden. Choose clothing that fully covers your shoulders, cleavage, and midriff. You don't want to be stuck adjusting your outfit at the door.
Bell County Camp prohibits clothing that is provocative, revealing, see-through, or excessively tight. If you're debating whether something is "too much," change now. It's faster than getting stopped at check-in.
Length matters. Shorts, dresses, and skirts cannot be more than 2 inches above the knee when standing. If it rides up when you move, sit, or walk, pick something longer.
Sleeveless tops are off-limits. Tank tops, halter tops, tube tops, and any sleeveless shirts are not allowed, even if you plan to keep your arms down or wear it just for the drive.
Leggings, yoga pants, and other spandex cannot be your outer layer. They're only allowed underneath a skirt, dress, or pants that meet the facility's length requirements. Plan your outfit before you leave home.
Leave graphic clothing at home. Bell County Camp prohibits anything with obscene language, images, symbols, or gang-related insignia. If there's any chance a logo or design could be seen as offensive or disruptive, go with something plain.
Head coverings are generally not allowed. This includes hats, caps, bandanas, scarves, and hoods. Religious head coverings are the exception, though expect them to be searched during screening.
Even if you think your outfit fits the rules, staff have the final say. They have sole discretion to decide whether your clothing complies with the dress code, and they can stop the visit if it doesn't meet policy.
If you arrive wearing something that violates the policy, you may get a chance to fix it (changing clothes or covering up). If the problem can't be corrected, you'll be denied entry. Dress conservatively from the start to avoid this.
