Visitation at Blackburn Corrections Complex is by appointment only. Schedule at least one week in advance by contacting Sharon Johnson at 859-246-2366 ext. 7224 or sharonk.johnson@ky.gov. Weekend and state-holiday visits are permitted, but new visitors can't enter after 9:30am, and everyone must leave institutional grounds by 12:45pm. When you arrive, stop at Post One, show proper ID (including your vehicle license number), park in the designated lot across from the gym, and sign in. Expect possible vehicle and person searches. Space is limited—inmates can have no more than three approved adult visitors per visiting period—and count holds at 10:00am and 12:15pm pause movement in and out of visitation. No food, drinks, purses, wallets, or phones allowed inside; vending machines are available. Bringing prescription meds? Carry only that day's exact dose in the original container and report it at Post One.

Blackburn Corrections Complex uses Securus Video Connect for remote video sessions—a web-based system accessible via app, computer, or tablet for attorneys, family, and public officials. Attorneys who want video visits must create a Securus Online account and upload a self image, a photo of their driver's license, and a photo of their Bar license before scheduling. Attorney video visits cost $5 for up to 25 minutes, and these sessions aren't monitored or recorded by facility staff. The facility's Legal Mail Portal also recommends registering your phone number with Securus and asking that it be marked private so calls from the prison aren't recorded. For non-attorney contacts, the process is straightforward: create a vendor account, get approved, and schedule visits through the vendor's online or in-app system.

Attorneys sending legal mail to Blackburn Corrections Complex must use the Kentucky Legal Mail Portal (LMP) at https://lmp.vendengine.com/visitor_login.php?jail_id=2516. During registration, upload proof of licensure (an image or PDF from your Bar Association), create a password meeting the portal's requirements, and verify your phone number using the Verify Phone Number icon. Once approved, your account status changes to verified and you'll receive a Mail ID number beginning with a letter. The portal warns about recycled or doctored mail being used to smuggle drugs and lists precautions.
