What to Consider Before Paying for a Tablet at Brooks County Detention Center

Brooks County Detention Center offers City Tele Coin tablets for monthly rental or use. Your loved one can make calls directly from the tablet, allowing more privacy than the unit phones, but not confidential calling: rates are the same as unit-phone rates, and calls remain recorded and monitored. The tablets are not directly connected to the internet.

Tablet eMessaging lets you communicate through text-based messages and pictures. It is a fee-based service, so rental is not the only cost to consider if messaging is your main reason for paying.

The tablets also provide a free educational platform and course catalog, plus daily access to mental-health and addiction-recovery programming. Other uses include legal research with up-to-date case information, eBooks, religious resources, music and games. Your loved one can also access submitted forms, requests, facility documents and staff notifications digitally.

There are no activation or early-termination fees. Tablet rental, fee-based messaging and monthly game subscriptions are distinct charges; do not treat the rental payment as covering every communication or entertainment service.

You are charged for a full month even if the tablet is used for only part of that month. For a short period of use, your decision still needs to account for the full month's charge.

Your loved one will receive the tablet three to five business days after you pay.
