Yes. To receive video calls and use electronic messaging when CDCR video services are available, you need a Securus online account. Free phone calls don't require one, but video visits and electronic messages are tied to your Securus login. Set it up ahead of time so you're ready when the service goes live.
- Create a Securus online account - Use the Securus website or the Securus mobile app to register.
- Confirm your email and basic details - If Securus asks you to verify your email, complete that step so your account is ready for video and messaging.
- Sign in on the device you plan to use - Log in on your phone or tablet (or on a computer) so you’re not troubleshooting passwords right before a scheduled session.
- Keep your login info somewhere safe - You’ll use the same account for Video Connect and electronic messages when those services are available.
Once you're signed in, open Video Connect in the Securus app and register by selecting "Allow videollamadas" (Allow video calls). This registration step is what actually turns on Video Connect for your account, so don't skip it.
