Video Visits at Carteret County Jail: What Changed, How to Schedule on PayTel, and What to Do If You Don’t Have a Computer
Planning to visit someone at Carteret Corrections Center? Visits are video-only now and run through PayTel. Here's what changed, what it costs, how to schedule, and what to do if you don't have a device.
As of November 1, Carteret Corrections Center no longer allows in-person visits. Everything moved to video visits through PayTel - so skip the drive and plan for a video session instead.
Scheduling happens online through PayTel now, not at the jail. Head to the PayTel site to set up your visit time.
Good news: each inmate gets one free 15-minute video visit per week. If you're watching costs, that weekly free session is the place to start.
Want more time? Additional visits cost $0.30 per minute. The free visit and paid minutes are tracked separately, so keep that in mind when scheduling.
Schedule your video visit at www.paytel.com. If you hit a snag - whether it's the scheduling process or a technical glitch - jail staff can help.
Note: If the PayTel scheduling steps feel confusing, call the jail - staff can help you troubleshoot scheduling and technical issues.
Don't have a computer or smartphone? You can still visit. Carteret Corrections Center has a video visitation kiosk in the jail's visitation room for visitors without a device at home.
- ✓ Kiosk visits must be scheduled during lobby hours (8:30 AM – 4:30 PM).
Here's a timing rule that catches people off guard: kiosk visits must happen on the same day the inmate's in-person visit was previously scheduled. Not sure what day that was? Call the jail to confirm before making the trip.
Need help scheduling, or don't have the right technology? Call 252-504-4832 and choose option 6. Ask for First Sergeant Chadwick.
