How to Apply for Visiting Privileges at Central Mississippi Correctional Facility
Getting approved to visit someone at Central Mississippi Correctional Facility (CMCF) starts with the person inside. Once you understand how the paperwork flows and what can get a visit denied, the whole process becomes much easier.
At CMCF, the incarcerated person kicks off the visitation application. They'll send an Application for Visiting Privileges to the people they want on their approved list. When you receive it, read the packet carefully, complete every section, and follow the return instructions exactly. Missing information or skipped steps will slow things down.
Here's a frustrating detail: the visitation application forms aren't available online. MDOC won't email or mail forms to prospective visitors either. You can't download the packet yourself or request one directly - you'll have to wait until your loved one sends it to you.
Once you've filled everything out, mail the completed Application for Visiting Privileges to the MDOC address listed in your packet. Don't guess at where to send it or use an old address from someone else's paperwork - stick with what's in the packet you received.
ID-requirements-adults
- ✓ Valid driver’s license
- ✓ Valid state-issued ID card
- ✓ Valid passport
Visitors under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. For children age 15 and under, plan to bring a legible birth certificate. If a child 15 or younger doesn’t have a birth certificate but does have a photo ID, that photo ID must show their date of birth.
After you submit your application, give it time to process. Wait until you've confirmed your approval before making the trip. Not sure if you're cleared - or think something may have changed? Contact the facility before you travel so you don't show up and get turned away.
- Arrive sober and keep all drugs/alcohol off prison grounds - A visit can be denied or ended, and visiting privileges can be suspended, if you’re under the influence of drugs or alcohol or if you have alcoholic beverages, illegal drugs, or drug paraphernalia on prison grounds.
- Cooperate with required searches - Refusing to submit to a search can lead to a denied or terminated visit and suspension of visiting privileges.
- Bring sufficient ID and be truthful about your identity - If you refuse or fail to produce sufficient identification, or you falsify identifying information, your visit can be denied or terminated and your visiting privileges can be suspended.
- Follow visitation rules and keep behavior and dress appropriate - Violating visitation rules - including improper dress or disruptive behavior - can result in a denied or terminated visit and suspension of visiting privileges.
Note: Wait until you’ve confirmed your visitation application was approved before making travel plans, especially nonrefundable purchases like plane tickets.
