How to Get on the Visiting List at Central Mississippi Correctional Facility (CMCF)
At Central Mississippi Correctional Facility (CMCF), your loved one has to start the process. They'll send an
Here's a common hang-up: MDOC visitation forms aren't available online. MDOC won't email or mail them to you either. The application you fill out needs to come from the packet your loved one sends.
- Read the full application packet first - don’t skip around; the packet tells you what MDOC needs and where it must be sent.
- Fill out every part of the application - incomplete applications can slow everything down.
- Complete the application for minors - if the prospective visitor is under 18, a parent or legal guardian must fill out the application.
- Mail the completed application to the address listed in the packet - send it to the MDOC address shown in the visitor application package (use that address exactly).
CMCF limits each incarcerated person to ten (10) visitors on their approved list at a time. Families sometimes have to decide who gets added right away and who waits.
Once approved, immediate family members stay on the list permanently - unless the incarcerated person removes them. Other visitors may need periodic re-approval.
Being approved doesn't mean unlimited group size. No more than five (5) people - including babies and children - can visit at one time. Larger families may need to split into separate visits.
Note: MDOC strongly encourages you to confirm your visitation application was approved before you make travel plans.
Before you lock in a date, call the facility. Confirm there aren't schedule interruptions and that your loved one isn't on a restriction that temporarily removes visiting privileges. This one step can save you a wasted trip.
- ✓ Use the MDOC Inmate Search on mdoc.ms.gov to look up the person by name (or MDOC number, if you have it) and confirm the listed location.
- ✓ Call the MDOC switchboard at 601-359-5600 (MDOC Central Office, 301 North Lamar Street, Jackson, MS 39201).
Calling the MDOC switchboard to locate someone? Have these details ready: the incarcerated person's full name, their MDOC number (if you have it), and date of birth. The operator may also ask for the last four digits of their Social Security number.
What to Bring First Visit
- ✓ Valid driver’s license
- ✓ Valid state ID
- ✓ Valid passport
Bringing a teen who is 16 or 17? Plan ahead. They need a picture ID showing their date of birth, and they must be on the offender's approved list. Teens also count toward the five-person limit.
- ✓ Minors must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
- ✓ For children 15 and younger: bring a legible birth certificate.
- ✓ If a child 15 and younger doesn’t have a birth certificate: a photo ID is acceptable, but it must show their date of birth.
