What You Can and Can't Bring to Visitation at Central Mississippi Correctional Facility: A Checklist

Leave Personal Items in Vehicle

  • Wallet
  • Cell phone (leave it behind - bringing one can lead to prosecution for introduction of contraband)
  • Purse

You'll go through a search before visitation. Refuse the search, and your visit gets denied or cut short. Don't show up under the influence. If staff suspect you've been drinking or using drugs - or if you're carrying alcohol, illegal substances, or paraphernalia - your visit can be denied or ended on the spot.

Allowed Items Infant Visitors

  • One (1) diaper bag
  • Up to four (4) diapers
  • Two (2) bottles
  • One (1) change of baby clothes
  • One (1) pacifier
  • Diaper wipes in a zip-lock bag
  • Any necessary medication for the infant

Infant medication is allowed - just bring only what you need for the visit. Everyone entering still goes through a search. Refuse, and your visit ends. The same rules apply here: don't arrive under the influence, and leave any alcohol, illegal drugs, or paraphernalia behind. Bringing any of that onto prison grounds will get your visit denied or terminated.

Adults (18 and older) need a valid photo ID - a driver's license, state ID, or passport works. Visitors 16 and older also need photo ID showing their date of birth. You'll need to be on the offender's approved visitor list before each visit.

For kids 15 and under, bring a legible birth certificate. If a child doesn’t have a birth certificate but does have photo identification, that photo ID has to show their date of birth. Any visitor under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

Note: If you refuse or fail to produce sufficient identification - or you falsify identifying information - the visit may be denied or terminated.

Never Send or Bring Contraband

  • Cell phones (do not send or bring them - doing so can lead to prosecution for introduction of contraband)
  • Alcoholic beverages
  • Illegal drugs
  • Drug paraphernalia
  • Knives
  • Firearms
  • Explosives or explosive material

Central Mississippi Correctional Facility can deny or end a visit if you refuse to submit to a search. The same goes if you’re under the influence of drugs or alcohol, or if you’re found with alcoholic beverages, illegal drugs, or drug paraphernalia on prison grounds. Identification problems can also stop a visit. If you refuse or can’t provide sufficient ID, or if you falsify identifying information, the visit may be denied or terminated.

Note: Do not possess money or any negotiable instruments while on prison grounds - this can lead to your visit being denied or terminated.

Staff enforce this the same way they enforce other rules: expect a search, and know that refusing one ends your visit. Failing to show proper ID - or providing false information - can also get you turned away. And as with every visit: don't arrive under the influence, and leave alcohol, illegal drugs, and paraphernalia at home. Any of these will get your visit denied or terminated.
