What You Can't Bring Inside: Visiting Room Rules at Centralia Correctional Center
Showing up with the wrong items can cost you valuable visit time while you haul things back to your car or a locker. Here's what you need to know about Visiting Room rules at Centralia Correctional Center, including what stays out and the few items you're allowed to keep with you.
Electronic devices are not allowed inside the Visiting Room. Cell phones, tablets, smart watches: leave them all behind. Bringing any of these will hold you up at entry.
Food and drinks aren't permitted in the Visiting Room either. Finish anything you're eating or drinking before you head inside.
- ✓ Purses
- ✓ Bags
- ✓ Packages
- ✓ Books
- ✓ Magazines
- ✓ Sunglasses
The list of things you can actually bring in is very short. Adult visitors may carry one photo ID and one key fob or car door key (as long as it doesn't have a remote attachment). You can keep these on you inside the Visiting Room or store them in a secured locker.
If you need lifesaving medication (heart medication, an asthma inhaler, etc.), you can bring it in. However, it must be delivered to the officer's station in the Visiting Room, where staff will hold it for you. Visiting with an infant or toddler? There's a limited exception list. You may bring up to three diapers and wipes, one blanket, up to two filled clear plastic bottles or two sealed containers of baby food, one change of clothes, and one pacifier. All infant or toddler items must be stored in a clear bag or plastic container.
Small lockers are available in the Visiting Center for storing personal items. Use them to secure anything you can't take into the Visiting Room.
- ✓ One photo identification card (adult visitors)
- ✓ One key fob or car door key without a remote attachment (adult visitors)
- ✓ Lifesaving medication, delivered to and held at the officer’s station in the visiting room
- ✓ Approved infant or toddler items, stored in a clear bag or plastic container
Tip: If you brought a phone, smart watch, purse, bag, book, magazine, or sunglasses, stash it in a locker before trying to enter the Visiting Room.
Expect screening before you get in. Every visitor must submit to a body search by officers at the Visitor Center.
If staff believe you're intoxicated or under the influence of alcohol or drugs, you won't be allowed in. If there's any chance a medication, drink, or substance could be misread, take care of it before you arrive so you don't risk being turned away.
Bottom line: If you can't clear the search process or you show up under the influence, your visit will be denied at the door.
