Butler County Jail Visitation: A–J and K–Z Schedule, 30-Minute Visits, and How to Change the 3-Person List
Visiting someone at Butler County Jail comes down to timing. Weekend visits are split by the inmate's last name, each visit lasts 30 minutes max, and only people on the inmate's approved list can get through. Here's how the schedule works—and what to know if you need to update that list.
Butler County Jail splits weekend visitation by the inmate’s last name. If the inmate’s last name begins with A–J, their visitation day is Saturday. If it begins with K–Z, their visitation day is Sunday.
- ✓ A–J (Saturday): 9:00 am – 11:00 am
- ✓ A–J (Saturday): 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm
- ✓ A–J (Saturday): 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm
- ✓ K–Z (Sunday): 9:00 am – 11:00 am
- ✓ K–Z (Sunday): 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm
- ✓ K–Z (Sunday): 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm
Each visit is limited to thirty (30) minutes - Saturday for A–J, Sunday for K–Z. The clock starts when you sit down, so don't be caught off guard when time's up right at the 30-minute mark.
Heads up: Visitation can be suspended without warning if facility circumstances require it - even during normal hours.
Each inmate can have up to three (3) people on their visitation list. The jail works from this short, fixed list - if your name isn't on it, you'll be turned away, even if you traveled hours and showed up at the right time.
Changing the visitation list isn't instant. Two 30-day rules control when changes can happen. First, an inmate can't touch their list until they've been at the facility for thirty (30) days. After making a change, they must wait another thirty (30) days before making the next one. If you're trying to get added or swapped in, think about timing: when did the inmate arrive? When was the last change made? Is another change even allowed yet? Figuring this out ahead of time saves wasted trips and frustration.
- Confirm the inmate’s arrival date - changes to the visitation list can’t be made until the inmate has been at the facility for 30 days.
- Wait out the first 30 days - once that window passes, the inmate can request a change.
- Make the list change - add or swap a visitor when changes are allowed.
- Start the next 30-day clock - after any change, the inmate must wait another 30 days before making a further change.
Denied a visit - or heard visitation is suspended? First, confirm you're actually on the inmate's approved list and check whether they can make changes under the 30-day rules.
