Prepare for a visit at Columbus County Detention Center

The detained person must have your name on their visitation list. If you are not listed, you will be refused. You must also bring valid photo identification to sign in. There are no exceptions to these requirements.

Entering the visitation room without being on the list can cause the detained person to lose visitation privileges. Staff may also deny visitation to a visitor or the detained person for reasons they deem appropriate.

Each detained person is allowed one 20-minute visit per week. If you are visiting with family or friends, coordinate who will use that shared time.

Up to four visitors may share the visit, but the 20 minutes must be divided among them. It is not 20 minutes per visitor.

Visiting hours are 3–5 p.m. and 7–9 p.m. The sheriff’s visitation schedule assigns days by last name ending: A–F on Monday, G–L on Tuesday, M–R on Wednesday, and S–Z on Thursday.

Confirm the visiting schedule with the facility before you travel.
