  • Look up the person in the Individual in Custody Locator using their full first name and full last name, or their Booking ID (enter it without a hyphen).
  • If scheduling is blocked, confirm whether you’re approved for visitation.
  • Use Cook County’s official online scheduling application to book an in-person visit.
  • If you’re not approved (or you get stuck), use the Locator for details and contact the Visitor Information Unit for help.

Start by confirming the person's details in Cook County's Individual in Custody Locator. Searching by name? You'll need to enter both the full first name and full last name. You can also search by Booking ID if you have it. Enter the number without a hyphen, following the format shown on the site (like 20250043394). This can save you time if a name search doesn't pull up results.

Tip: If the name search isn’t working, try the Booking ID and make sure you enter it without a hyphen (use the same style as 20250043394).

Cook County Department of Corrections has an official online application for scheduling in-person visits. Once you've confirmed the person's booking details, head to that scheduling application to pick a time slot and book.

If you have questions specifically about scheduling, email DOC.visitation@ccsheriff.org.

If the scheduling application won't let you book because you're not approved, the site will prompt you to either check the Individual in Custody Locator or contact the Visitor Information Unit to find out how to get approved.

  1. Double-check the locator information - Search using full first name and full last name, or use the Booking ID entered without a hyphen.
  2. Confirm whether approval is the issue - If you’re blocked because you’re not approved for visitation, you’ll need guidance on how to become approved.
  3. Call the Visitor Information Unit - Use 773-674-8225 or 773-674-8194 to ask about approval and what to do next.

Bring a current, valid photo ID that shows your address. The ID you present at check-in has to match what you used on your visitation application, so use the same document consistently.
