How to Request a Clearance or Pardon Letter from Dallas County Sheriff's Office

Need a clearance or pardon letter from the Dallas County Sheriff's Office? You'll need to submit a completed request form, the right ID documents, and payment in an accepted format. Here's how to get it done.

The fee is $35, non-refundable. Pay with a cashier's check or money order made out to "Dallas County Sheriff's Office." Personal checks, debit cards, and credit cards are not accepted.

Note: If you complete the form in person, the cashier’s window is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Payment at the window is limited to cash, money order, or cashier’s check.

You'll need to include two forms of government-issued ID with your completed form. Both must be current; expired IDs won't be accepted.

  • Get the clearance form notarized
  • Attach a copy of your driver’s license or ID card
  • Include a second form of identification

Mail the original form and payment through U.S. mail or a courier service. Use the address printed on the request form.
