Before You Drive to Danville: Check the IDOC Lockdown Hotline
Planning a trip to Danville Correctional Center? Take one minute to check whether the facility is on lockdown. That quick call can save you a long drive for a visit that won't happen.
Before you drive to Danville - or any Illinois Department of Corrections facility - call the IDOC lockdown hotline at (877) 840-3220. You'll hear a recorded list of facilities currently on lockdown. It's the simplest way to avoid a wasted trip. Even when you've done everything right, visits can still be denied. IDOC can restrict visiting privileges for security reasons, space limits, disruptive conduct, or rule violations. Lockdowns are one of the most common reasons plans fall through, so checking first protects both your time and your gas money.
Lockdown hotline: Call (877) 840-3220 for a listing of IDOC facilities currently on lockdown.
- Call the IDOC lockdown hotline - Dial (877) 840-3220.
- Listen for the facility list - The hotline provides a listing of IDOC facilities currently on lockdown.
- Confirm Danville’s status before you leave - If Danville is listed, expect special visiting restrictions during the lockdown. In that situation, you can check for restrictions by contacting the facility or reviewing the facility’s IDOC information.
If Danville is on lockdown, in-person visits may be off the table - but you still have options. IDOC uses ICSolutions for video visitation at all facilities except Administrative Transfer Centers (ATCs). To set up a video visit, you'll need to register with ICSolutions and schedule through their system.
- Set up video visitation through ICSolutions - Register with ICSolutions so you can schedule video visits (IDOC uses ICSolutions for video visitation at facilities other than ATCs).
- Plan around possible phone downtime - IDOC is transitioning phone services from Securus to ICSolutions on a facility-by-facility basis (starting as early as February 3, 2025). During a facility’s switch, a one-to-two day phone service interruption is expected, so build in a little buffer if you’re counting on a call.
Heads up: During IDOC’s phone vendor transition from Securus to ICSolutions, a facility’s phone service may be interrupted for 1–2 days while the switch happens.
Travel Checklist
- ✓ Schedule your in-person visit online using IDOC’s SignUpGenius visit scheduling system.
- ✓ If you’re 18+, complete the Prospective Visitor’s Interview (PVI) form (DOC 0148) before your first visit; it’s available online in English and Spanish.
- ✓ Arrive at the facility at least 10 minutes before your scheduled visit time.
Even with a scheduled time and your paperwork in order, entry isn't guaranteed. IDOC can deny or restrict visits for security reasons, space constraints, disruptive behavior, or rule violations. One more reason the lockdown hotline is worth a call before you hit the road.
