Adult visitors need two forms of identification. One must be a current state-issued photo ID - check that expiration date before you go. Show up with only one ID, or with an expired photo ID, and you'll lose your visit.

You'll need to provide vehicle information when you arrive. First-time adult visitors (18+) must also complete the Prospective Visitor's Interview (PVI) form (DOC 0148) ahead of time - printable versions are available online in English and Spanish. Bring the completed form with you. It keeps check-in moving instead of creating extra paperwork at the door.

Banned Items

  • Cell phones, tablets, smart watches, and other electronic devices
  • Food and drink
  • Smoking materials
  • Currency
  • Packages
  • Purses and bags
  • Books and magazines
  • Sunglasses
  • Personal keys

Small lockers are available in the Visiting Center for personal items. Use them for anything you're not allowed to carry into the Visiting Room.

Medication rules are strict in the Visiting Room. Unless it’s physician-prescribed heart medication or a physician-prescribed asthma inhaler, don’t bring pills or other medication in with you.

Heart medication must be in a properly labeled container. Be ready to hand it over - staff may hold required medication at the officer's station during your visit.

All visitors, vehicles, and personal property are subject to search on state property. Refuse a search and the facility can deny your visit - and may suspend or restrict your visiting privileges going forward.

Tobacco rule: Visitors aren’t allowed to possess tobacco or tobacco-less products anywhere inside the facility.
