You can add funds by dropping a money order in the lockbox located in the Law Enforcement foyer. Write the inmate's name and booking information clearly on it so the deposit gets credited to the right person. Keep your receipt or make a copy - you'll need it if anything goes wrong.

There's also a deposit kiosk in the detention lobby. It works like a deposit-only ATM and accepts cash or card. It's a quick option if you don't want to deal with money orders.

Can't make it to the facility? You can add funds by phone at 727-349-1561. Have the inmate's name and booking number ready, along with your payment info.

Online deposits go through AccessCorrections. Save your confirmation number after you pay - processing times vary, and you'll want that receipt if you need to follow up.

Kiosk Lockbox Tips

  • Use a money order for the lockbox deposit.
  • Clearly write the inmate’s full name and any ID/booking number you have on the money order (or on an included slip, if provided).
  • Include your name as the sender/payer.
  • Keep your receipt or a copy of the money order before you drop it in the lockbox.
  • Bring the payment method you plan to use (cash or card) for the detention lobby kiosk.
  • Enter the inmate’s information carefully so the deposit goes to the correct account.
  • Print and keep the kiosk receipt after the transaction completes.
  • If the kiosk prompts you for additional details, follow the on-screen instructions and don’t leave until you have a confirmation.

The money-order lockbox is in the Law Enforcement foyer. The deposit kiosk is in the detention lobby. Not sure where to go? Check the posted signs or ask staff at the front desk.

Dawson County uses Keefe for commissary, and orders go out every Thursday. If you want your deposit available for that week's order, get the funds in before Thursday.

Keefe delivers commissary items on Monday and Tuesday, after orders transmit on Thursday. So the rhythm is: deposit before Thursday, order goes out Thursday, delivery arrives early the following week.

How to Send Money to an Inmate at Dawson County Detention Center (and when commissary arrives)
  1. Check your proof of payment - look for your kiosk receipt, your AccessCorrections confirmation, or any reference number you were given when you paid by phone.
  2. Gather the inmate’s details - have the inmate’s full name and ID/booking number ready so the transaction can be matched to the correct account.
  3. Contact the payment vendor first - use the same channel you paid through (online account/receipt details or the phone deposit line) and ask them to trace the transaction.
  4. Escalate to the facility if needed - if the vendor can’t resolve it, contact the detention center’s Inmate Services point of contact with your documentation and the timing (especially if you’re trying to meet the Thursday order transmission or Monday–Tuesday delivery window).
