Before Your First Visit to DRDC: Visiting Application Checklist

Download the DRDC visiting application from the Colorado DOC Visiting Applications page. You can submit the completed form to DRDC's Visiting Department by mail or email - whichever works best for you. Just make sure everything is filled out completely before you send it.

Send mailed applications to: Attention: Visiting Department, Denver Reception and Diagnostic Center, P.O. Box 392004, Denver, CO 80239. If you’re submitting by email, use: doc_drdc_visiting@state.co.us.

Include a copy of a valid, unexpired government-issued photo ID with your visiting application. Double-check the address, too: the address on your ID must match the address you write on your application, or your application may be denied.

Planning to bring a child? Anyone under 18 must be listed by name on the visitor application. The good news: minors don't count toward the twelve (12) approved visitors. But they still need to be named on the application to get clearance.

Pay attention to who will actually bring the child to the visit. If someone other than the parent or legal guardian is bringing the minor, the parent must complete Form 300-01F (Authorization for Minor Child Visitation) and submit it following the facility-specific visiting instructions.

Once you're approved and active, background checks run automatically every year. One thing to watch: if a full year passes without a visit, you'll be automatically deactivated and will need to reapply before visiting again.

Traveling a long distance or only able to visit occasionally? You may qualify for a "special visit." These require a separate Special Visitation Application - submit it to the location listed in the facility's instructions on the facility page.
