How to Apply for Visiting Approval for Someone at District 23 (Kennett) — step-by-step online guide (including minors)
Before you can visit someone in Missouri DOC custody, you need to be approved as a visitor. Here's how the online application works—including the
To visit an offender through Missouri DOC, you must be pre-approved before you’ll be allowed to visit. That approval comes from submitting the visiting application and waiting for a final decision - so it’s worth doing the paperwork first, even if you’re hoping to visit soon.
After you apply, the offender is notified about your visiting status. They’re also responsible for letting you know whether you were approved or not.
Before you start the online visiting application, get the offender’s DOC ID number. You can’t submit the application without it, so it’s the one detail you’ll want to have in front of you before you begin.
- Enter the offender’s DOC ID - the online application won’t go forward without the correct DOC ID number.
- Work through every required field - fields marked with an asterisk (*) are required, so don’t skip any of them.
- Agree to follow visiting rules (including searches) - the application includes an agreement that you’ll comply with visiting regulations, including search requirements.
- Double-check before you submit - make sure the required fields are complete and your agreement selections are in place before you finish.
Reminder: The online application requires you to agree to comply with visiting regulations, including searches, as part of the submission.
If you’re applying for a minor child, the identification section is handled a little differently. On the online form, choose “other” for the ID type, and enter “NA” for the identification number.
Missouri DOC runs a criminal history check on visiting applicants. Fill the application out thoroughly and honestly - if you leave things out or aren’t transparent, your visiting privileges may be denied.
Once you complete the online application and click Finish, it’s sent electronically to the institutional case manager. That case manager processes the application after it’s received.
Don’t try to visit until you have final approval. If you show up before you’re approved, you may be turned away even if your application is still being processed.
