Durham County's Commissary Gift Packages: How iCare Works

Want to send a care package to someone at Durham County Detention? iCare is the system you'll use to order gift packages online.

iCare lets friends and family order commissary-style gift packages for someone housed at Durham County Detention. Rather than putting money into a commissary account, you pick a package through iCare and place the order on their secure website. This works well when you want to send specific items in one purchase, or when you'd rather give a packaged gift than add funds for your loved one to shop on their own.

To place an iCare order, start by searching for the person by name or inmate number on the iCare website. Once you find the correct listing, follow the prompts to create an iCare account and complete your order. Don't have the inmate number? Call the Durham County Detention Center to get it. That same number is used for other services too, like adding funds through TouchPay.

Identifying Info

  • Inmate ID/JCA number (required for TouchPay deposits, and helpful for searching on iCare)
  • Durham County Detention Facility ID number: 227701 (used for deposits where a facility number is requested)
  • Inmate’s full name and inmate number (include both when mailing a money order)

Tip: If you do not know the inmate number, call the Durham County Detention Center and ask for it.

If you'd rather add money to your loved one's account instead of ordering a gift package, Durham County Detention accepts deposits through TouchPay online. The service runs 24 hours a day and accepts Visa, MasterCard, and Moneypak. You'll need the inmate's Inmate ID/JCA number to make a deposit. TouchPay deposits also require the facility number (227701). A service fee applies to each deposit.

You can also deposit money in person at the TouchPay kiosk in the Durham County Detention Center lobby. The kiosk is available 24 hours and accepts cash, Visa, MasterCard, and Moneypak.

TouchPay also offers a 24-hour phone deposit option. Call toll-free 1-866-232-1899 to make a deposit using Visa, MasterCard, or Moneypak.
