How to Register for Visits at Durham County Detention (5 steps)
First time trying to visit? You'll need to register for an account before you can schedule anything.
Durham County Detention requires all visitors to register and create an account before scheduling. You can do this online or at the kiosk in the detention facility lobby. Once you're registered, you're in the system and ready to schedule.
To register online, go to https://durhamcountync.gtlvisitme.com/app and follow the prompts to create your visitor account. No internet access? You can register at the kiosk in the detention facility lobby instead.
The online registration form will ask for basic information, including a valid email address. Use an email you actually check. You'll need it during setup and every time you sign in.
Tip: Don't have an email address? Set one up for free before you start registering, so you don't get stuck halfway through.
After you register, save your visitor ID and password somewhere you can find them later. You'll need both every time you schedule or manage a visit.
Planning to do remote video visits? Registration works the same way. You'll also need to download the visitation app to your device, whether that's a desktop computer, tablet, or phone.
Note: The visitation app works on both Android and Apple devices, but Durham County recommends Android. Video visitation is free.
- Go to the lobby kiosk. If you cannot register online, use the registration kiosk located in the detention facility lobby.
- Complete the registration form. The registration process still requires the required information, including a valid email address.
- Set up an email first, if needed. If you do not already have a valid email address, create one at no cost, then come back and finish your registration.
Once you're registered, the system works the same for both in-person and video visits. Same registration, same scheduling process.
